Sunday Funday!

Hello all!
I had a wonderful Sunday and I just wanted to share some of it with you!
1. An amazing sermon from a pastor in India was delivered today. It was so encouraging to hear how the brothers and sisters over there are going in for Christ, even though they face some really tough persecution.
2. I'm about to go to a nacho party! I mean seriously the day can't get any better : )

Bonus news - I may be going tubing tomorrow! Hope everyone is having a safe and lovely Labor Day weekend.

Bye, bye Monique!

Today I had to say goodbye to another wonderful friend the Lord has blessed me with. I hated to see Monique go, but I'm praying the Lord will bless her on her latest and greatest adventure!
And I'm going to end there before I get emotional again (not a good look driving and crying by the way. I don't suggest it) Love you girlie and I'll see you soon!

Pinterest uses

Hello all,
I've finally put one of the millions posts I have on Pinterest to use and I fixed my shoes! So my favorite pair of heels has been sitting in the closet, all by their lonesome, all summer long because the backs were scraped up like so:
But then, Pinterest (which I'm not even kidding I thank God for every day and you can check out my boards here:  https://pinterest.com/kgval1/) came into my life and I found a wonderful and simple way to fix them, so here is the process I used. First my materials of Mod Podge, Martha Stewart course glitter (in Florentine gold) a paintbrush, and a paper plate:

Then you simply pour out a little bit of Mod Podge (don't use regular glue, because Mod Podge dries clear and regular glue does not) and a some glitter. In the picture below is probably a good amount of Mod Podge and glitter. I of course went Rambo after taking this picture and put in more, but didn't use it all.
And you just mix it all together to create a thick paste and put it on your heel. Let it dry and then just repeat until you have the desired amount of glittery awesomeness that mine have now achieved!
And there you have them ladies and gents! Ready for a night out again. So someone please invite me out, I literally have two more weeks to wear them before fall comes and I'm back in boots.

P.S. - Mad thanks to Anne over at http://wobisobi.blogspot.com/ from who I borrowed this idea! Her awesome blog explains this process a lot better than me.

Amused.

Hello all!
My day was pretty amusing (or so I thought) so I wanted to share it with you. I nannied today for a family with a little boy and girl, and spent most of my day with the little boy and we had a grand time indeed!
First off, we spent the majority of the morning discussing whether or not I was a boy or a girl. He was pretty convinced that I was a boy, since I had short hair, but the whole name thing threw him off. I'm pretty sure I convinced him I was a girl by the end of the day, but one can never be sure about these things.
While making lunch, his turkey sandwich was garnished with ketchup and Parmesan cheese. I had no words.
As we proceeded throughout our day he kept asking if I was sad. Apparently I have a very Eeyore face and I need to work on that.
And let's not forget his older sister that joined us in the afternoon and, sweet girl, but we just were not on the same page at all. For example, I asked her what she wanted to do that afternoon while we were hanging out and her response was: "We ate in a big room. Some people brought their lunches, while others had hot lunch. You know pizza and salad and stuff." So we ended up just watching a movie since I felt that was a good compromise.
Kids, I tell you. A very amusing bunch, but I don't want to have any for a very long time.

Crossroads of America.

That's right, I went back to Indy this past weekend. And oh, how I've missed it ladies and gentlemen. Ellen and myself had a wonderful drive down there. Of course, we got a little turned away (thanks contrustion for literally getting rid of two exits! Honestly, who does that?!) Now, Indy can never hold a candle to Chicago, but Indy definitely has a special place in my heart. Those Panera's and Chick-Fil-A's have definitely saved me many of time from school food. Speaking of food you know I definitely hit up Chick-Fil-A (Ellen had never had it! So I had to correct that) and Cristina's family cooked for us and also had some great tamales at the aptly named Tamale Place. And a special shout-out to Mo'Joe Coffee Shop because that caramel Smooth Joe I had literally saved my life on Sunday. Also, the Circle Centre mall has and will always be banging. Such a good mall! And thanks to that random man who asked if I was 6 or 7 feet tall. Sorry to disappoint sir, I just have oddly long limbs. And I can't forget Brian (interestingly enough he living in Lincoln Park. I need to look him up) the love of my life. At least at that moment in the bar. Still have yet to thank my mom for my backside, but I'm getting around to it. They don't exactly make cards for that. love, ktv

NOLA

Hello!
So recently I got to check off another place on my Places to Go checklist (or I would have if I actually ever created that list), and I am here to tell you that New Orleans didn't disappoint.
It was nothing short of amazing! And as always, here is a list why:
1. I tried fried pickles and boudin balls, both most likely, crazy unhealthy for you, but so delicious!
2. Got to go to Cafe Du Monde and try their beignets and hot chocolate.
3. Went on a mule ride around the French Quarter. Interesting fact: They use mules instead of horses because they can withstand the heat better. One summer three horses dropped dead.
4. Stayed in an amazing hotel in the French Quarter.
5. Got free beads.
6. Purchased an awesome picture, sunglasses, and shot glass.
7. Walked up and down Bourbon street for literally two hours and didn't get bored.
8. Shopped at the French Market.
9. Got to listen to a ton a free street music.
Me and my sister accomplished all these things in less then 24 hours, it was a great trip and I can't wait to do it all again! And now here are some pictures to further illustrate the awesomeness of New Orleans. Anybody just want to move their with me?

Dog days of winter.

Well, I certainly did sparkle in the New Year! And I do hope that you did as well.

And now we are firmly 24 days into January and surprisingly it hasn't been horrible. I'm sorry, but January and February are the worst months to be in Chicago, due to the bitter cold that slaps you in the face like an estranged and jilted lover every morning. But despite a five and a half hour drive last Friday as I went to pick up the kid I nanny for, which usually only takes me about an hour, January has behaved itself admirably. February, take notes.
