For my visual learners.

Hello all!
This is just your PSA for today, cuffing season is still in effect, even more so since the weather is getting colder. Be careful and know the facts.
Huffington Post just recently did an article about it, so you know it's real.

Love never felt so good.

Hello again!
As you guys know from last week football season is back, so a lot of my posts will be dedicated to that. And since I posted a video about how I felt about the loss last week, I thought it would only be appropriate to post a video about how I felt about that win.
So without further ado, Happy Monday and enjoy!

Wait, it's over? The final one.

I can not say enough about the past year and nine months of my AmeriCorps life. As one of my old Team Leaders used to say. "mind, heart, body, and soul AmeriCorps" and it truly has touched, and taken over, each one of these parts.
To classes 19 and 20A, I can not say enough wonderful things about each and everyone that I came in contact with. You have defined one of the most important periods of my life, and it truly saddens me that I have to say adieu. Yet, all the life lessons I have learned I will keep with me forever (or at least until my memory goes, we all know that it's going to happen).
I leave you with one last picture, the one that defines the Fire Unit 20A at it's absolute best:

Class 19A, I love you to the moon and back.
Class 20A, SHUT IT DOWN (I know you will, forever and always)

love,
KTV

Wait, it's over?! Part Duex

Hey again!
Let us continue on this journey of saying goodbye! So, I know you guys have seen a bunch of pictures of my first round that was in Arizona, but here is one more!

This was taken on our last day in Arizona, where we got to set fire to all the material that we collected off the beach. And of course, we set it off in style with some bows and arrows! I will not get into all of the other weapons that they made while I was off doing paperwork. You know who you are, shut it down.

Next up, is second round where we were located in the lovely Denver, Colorado doing taxes:

This by far had to be the project that I was most nervous about, but at the end of it I learned the absolute most out of my eight rounds. Such a great sponsor that is doing amazing work for the community, I couldn't be prouder that I got an opportunity to serve with the Piton Foundation. And, now for forever more, I can do taxes! But please, don't ask me to.

And on we go to third round:

I have always wanted a school project and my wish was granted to me this round, as my team and I got to work at a school in rural Colorado. This round definitely had to be my toughest, but out of all the rounds I had, this one grew me the most as a leader. And for that, I am forever grateful to it.

And last, but not least, my fourth round:

I couldn't have asked for a better way to leave my Ameri-life. Great sponosor, team, community, housing, and campers. Everything that needed to go right, went that way (and naturally we had some wrongs too). There is not enough good things that I can say about the J. Austin White Cultural Center in Arkansas, so I am going to quit while I am ahead!

And that rounds up, my last four projects in AmeriCorps! But wait...there is still more.

Wait, it's over?!

Hello!
So yes, I know I've been missing in action for literally months, but I have been busy! I'm going to try my hand at this whole saying goodbye to AmeriCorps thing and hope that I don't cry again. Fun fact, I've literally been crying since last Tuesday. First off, photos!
First one one up is the photo that all the returners took at last years banquet:

Look how young and happy we look! We didn't even know what we were returning to (well, Chris and Susan did, bless their souls)

Next up, we have all the Fire Unit field Team Leaders after induction, before we stepped into the fray that was spike travel:

I meant to save the sentimental stuff for part two of this post, but you all know good and well that I couldn't do that! These above two pictures contain some of the best people that I have ever had the pleasure of working with or knowing. I am so happy that they were a part of my Ameri-family and will continue to be a huge part of my life. Without them (and frozen yogurt) there is no way that I could have gotten through 11 months.
And since I love them all so much, they get their very own post dedicated just to them.
But, wait...there is more!

Old School Love.

This one is for Chicago. Because despite how everyone else sees you or what names they may call you, I still think you are beautiful.

Everything in Arizona is trying to kill you.

Hello!
I can't believe that I forgot to post this video! This was created by one of the many talented Corps Members that I had the pleasure of working with Round One.
The struggle is real, Fire 7 knows the deal and now you do too.

2014

Hi!
As with everyone else, I can't believe that it is 2014. I would have to say that 2013 was my best year yet (mind you I can't really remember the first five) and if you want to know all that I did, you can read my blog : )
My Christmas break was wonderful and much needed. Apparently, it was so great that it wanted me to stay two extra days, because I definitely got stuck in Chiberia.
I guess now is the time where I make a list of things I learned in 2013 and some things I would like to bring with me into 2014 (you all know how I love lists!) so here I go:
1. Trust nothing in AmeriCorps. Obviously, the people, but everything else is subject to change.
2. I don't like hugging as much as I did when I was a child.
3. I can live in horribly uncomfortable places, but please don't make me prove it.
4. Men are crazy and not intimidating at all. They have a lot of the same thought processes as women.
5. I'm a leader and need to show more confidence.
6. When I find him, I need to be more vulnerable. No one likes someone who seems to be inhuman.
7. I thought I couldn't possibly show more love, but then AJ was born and she proved me wrong.
8. I can celebrate special holidays away from my family.
9. I shouldn't underestimate the impact I have on people, or vice versa.
10. Just go for it, or someone else will. If it doesn't work out, I'll be fine.
11. I probably shouldn't pursue a career in a Parks and Rec department.
12. I love my family and friends. Like a lot.
13. I'm outdoorsy in the fact that I like drinking outside.
14. Great people are literally everywhere.
15. I have an alter ego named Christmas Katie.
16. There is never not a time to paint your nails.
17. I'm not a fan of hiking.
18. I am a fan of well dressed men.
19. I enjoy using the bathroom outside.
20. I'm obsessed with New Orleans.
21. If I don't like the position I am in, I am lucky enough that I can move. I am not a tree.
22. I have an unhealthy addiction to Pinterest. The above quote is from there.
23. I will always love Hello Kitty.
24. Don't take your phone out on a mountain. You will fall and crack your screen.
25. I am blessed beyond belief.
Welcome to 2014, I hope you enjoy it : )
love,
ktv
