Pandemic Posts - February 2020

 Hello again!

Back again with another pandemic post. Man, February of 2020 was so much fun! I had more friends come to visit, I was going apartment hunting, I picked up some part time work, and Mardi Gras was in full effect! I was so excited for this Mardi Gras season, because I had friends that knew the lay of the land and let me tag along with them, so to say the very least it was the best!

I truly can't even begin to describe the energy that is Mardi Gras. It sets up the whole year and makes it feel like it's going to be a success. There is no break in New Orleans, because as soon as Mardi Gras ends, you are rolling right into festival season and that stays jam packed until the holidays come back. I remember still just being so excited around this time of year and of course, eating a ton of king cake, and looking forward to everything that was on the horizon.

How I was feeling at the start of Mardi Gras season!

How I feeling at the end of Mardi Gras. Little did I know all that was coming.

All in all, it was such a succesful, fun, wild, chaotic, Mardi Gras season. Shout-out to Leanna, Kaed, Miracle, and Danielle for getting me through! I wouldn't have made it without ya'll. I didn't know it at the time, but February was going to be the last month that felt regular for awhile and I'm glad that it wasn't wasted.

Well, March 2020 is up next and I feel like I need to prepare myself to write that blog post, because I was having a lot of feels! Until next time!

Pandemic Posts - January 2020

 Hi friends!

Well, 2020 was a year if ever I saw one! I truly feel that I'll be processing it for awhile now, but I was looking at old pictures from the past year and I thought it would be fun to try and remember what head space I was in at that time.

So, January is always an exciting time for me, I don't make resolutions (just reservations, y'all already know the deal!) but it is always a great time to look back and reflect and just be excited about the new year. And there was much to be excited about! It was my second year in New Orleans and I was gearing up for Mardi Gras with all my new friends. Speaking of that great group of friends I was looking forward to chipping away at my ever growing list of things I wanted to do in here with them. I was truly ready to hit the ground running! And I was off to a great start:

I had started a new Instagram like a good little millenial.

I went to my first Pelicans game! Do you know that the crowd stands up until they make their first basket?

Of course, I was eating good.

I was out in these streets going to free concerts.

I had friends come and visit me!

There was also a welcome little new edition to the family! 2020 was starting off just the way that I liked. Little did I know of what was to come! Looking back this book definitely was foreshadowing 😂😣

Up next, a review of February 2020 a.k.a Mardi Gras season! Until next time : )

Back on

Well, well, well, well! Here we go again! I hope that ya'll didn't think that I was finshed with this. I reread some old entries, had a very good laugh, cleaned up some things and now I'm back! It's been a helluva year, but I've got some thoughs, so as always, stayed tuned : ) Until then, enjoy the song of the year (honestly the song of my life)

Music Monday - 3.9.20

Hello again!

I know that I keep saying that I need to get better at this, so maybe if I keep saying it, it will happen right?! Anywho, as I always like to do after a long break, a Music Monday! I was reminded of this magical gem over the weekend, so I only thought it fair to share it with you!

No Angel - By the one and only Beyonce, of course!

I love everything about this video and this song : ) I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have been enjoying it on this Monday as much as I have!

Music Mondays - 7.15.19

Hello!

I haven't done a Music Monday in forever and since I escaped from tropical storm Barry relatively unscathed, I wanted to celebrate with music! So, I present to you Allen Stone's, "Reality"

So, I view this as very  much a break-up song and it's a message to me in a variety of ways. New Orleans is teaching me so much and I have been on such a journey this weekend. Ole Faithful (my car) got flooded (again!) and this time it may not make it. This quickly sent me on a spiral of questioning and doubting my decision to come down here that I struggled with all weekend.

But, as I sat in the car on the way back and I thought about the all of the messages and calls that people sent me, I realized how very loved that I am. How, all of these people have supported me since way before coming down here and how that has continued, if not intensified since I’ve been here. How all of them miss me, but no one discouraged me from living out my dreams. Don't get me wrong, if it comes down to it, it's going to absolutely suck not have a car, but knowing that I have all this care in my corner, is going to get me through.

I picked this song for two reasons today, one to break up with this notion of control. There is very little that I have in my control. But, the little that I have control over, I will take great delight in. Such as putting on my favorite dress, my favorite lip color and make-up, picking my favorite music to listen to, and the ability to tell those wonderful people that checked in with me that I love them has given me great joy over these past couple of days.

And the second reason I picked it, is within the lyrics themselves. This has definitely been shown to me this weekend and I pray that it gets shown to you, when you need it:

"Well, I pray all your wishes come true,
And if you're in need, help is offered to you,
And I pray for peace, love and prosperity,
And may all your dreams become reality"

love,

ktv

ps - But, please send me money, so I know it's real 😀😀

New Orleans

Hello yet again!

Where to even begin with the city of New Orleans? I have loved this city since I first stepped foot in it in 2012 and the humidity smacked me dead in the chest. The humidity has not let up and neither has my love. Everyone always asked me, why don't you move there and I was like, is that a challenge?! Bet.

I was so excited to be here that I was actually anxious. I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop, I was just waiting for me to not enjoy it and want to head back home. And although I miss home and all my family and friends, (no worries, I've already launched a full on campaign to get them to all move here) I love it here. And it may just be the honeymoon phase, but I plan on riding this out for as long as I can.

In conclusion,

I just belong here.

Love,
